A cloudy day in northern Arizona. They say that rain is a good omen on a wedding day. It brings fertility, a long lasting marriage, and good luck. Kate and Derek’s Windmill House forest wedding started out with a bright sunny day, but soon turned to clouds. However, they did not let it ruin their perfect day. They were celebrating their love with all of friends and family with a God centered ceremony. Weddings never go according to plan, but thats what makes them beautiful. Unique. No wedding is one in the same. I think thats what makes Kate and Dereks wedding so beautiful.
Among the beautiful willow trees right outside of Prescott, Arizona in Chino Valley lays the most quaint wedding venue, The Windmill House. The perfect place if you’re looking for something outside of our constant desert vibe. I only met Kate and Derek on their wedding date as they were planning their wedding for the summer. They had a little surprise on the way; a sweet baby boy due this fall! Not only were they celebrating their God-centered relationship turning into marriage, but they were also celebrating them becoming a family.
Their Windmill House forest wedding was simple, yet elegant. Touches of pinks and greens to match the beautiful scenery of their venue. One thing I love about wedding ceremonies when my couples do not do a first look, is the grooms initial reaction. Dereks was priceless. The moment he saw his bride, Kate, the tears did not stop falling. So much so, he got a bloody nose. Whoops! They had their beautiful ceremony with bible scriptures, a ring exchange, and a beautiful kiss to seal their marriage.
I can’t wait for these two to experience not only this chapter in their life together, marriage, but also the next chapter; parenthood. Their sweet, calm, and loving demeanors have me knowing that they are going to be the most amazing parents to their little boy. From the moment they met at their summer jobs, to their relationship, their marriage, and soon parenthood, they were destined for this. Here is to a future that God has already written for you and to many more beautiful chapters ahead. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Parker!
