Losing someone never gets easier. Missing them and love them so deeply once they are gone never gets easier. None of it is easier. We just find a new normal without them, even though none of it is ever “normal” again. Losing a sibling is one of the worst pains I’m sure there ever was, especially when you are so close to them. Not having that special person at your wedding when they should have been there is one feeling I’d never wish upon anyone. Unfortunately, this was the case for Samantha at her and Drew’s wedding.
Samanthas brother, Nelson, was murdered in 2013, 6 years before she was to marry the love of her life. One thing Samantha wanted me to do for her wedding was to capture the memory of her brother who should have been there. One of the first boys she ever loved. She had a memorial set up for him, a chair saved for him, which I know he was sitting in watching his big sister on the happiest day of her life.
Samantha’s mom, Ronda, walked her down the aisle. That moment right there was emotional. The bond those two beautiful women share is breathtaking, and so very special. The moment Drew saw his beautiful bride, the tears welled up in his eyes; even though I’m sure he wont want to admit it, I have photos to prove it (ha!). They spoke hand written vows to one another, and I’m sure there wasn’t a dry eye in that overlook where they held their ceremony in Sedona.
Samantha and Drew, there will never be the perfect words to describe your day. I’ve never met such kind and genuine individuals like I have with you. Watching you share the love you have is truly special and it is one of a kind, just like in fairytales. My love for you two has only grown as I have got to know you more and I’m so thankful and lucky to not only call you clients but friends!
